At Daffodils we are extremely lucky to have our own private woodland all to ourselves! The woodland is a large area secured by fencing, making it a safe place for the children to explore what nature has to offer! The children have access to our wonderful woodlands to connect first-hand with their natural world through their senses, exploring and experiencing the weather, seasons, wildlife, nature, growth and changes as they happen! The large outdoor space provides a range of endless opportunity for children to explore movement, take risks, test their capabilities to learn and master new physical skills as they climb trees and balance on logs.
Children learn to problem-solve and work with others, developing their social skills through negotiating building a shelter together, or working out whose turn it is on the slack line.
There is freedom to be creative and use their imagination to get lost in their world as they engage in role play and use open-ended natural resources to support their play. A place where sticks become wands, trees become forts and children become dragons! The learning opportunities in this magical space are endless.
The outdoor environment allows the children to become more absorbed and motivated in their play which allows their learning to become more purposeful and develops a positive attitude towards learning and in their own abilities which boosts their self-awareness, independence and confidence.
